Welcome to Calistoga
Natural beauty and modern luxury collide in perfect unison
Centrally located between several state parks and top-rated wineries, the community of Calistoga is the hotspot of picturesque, rural Northern California. A plethora of resorts with world-class amenities have attracted visitors from the four corners of the globe for decades. Also famous for its hot springs and mud baths, the
Old Faithful Geyser of California is known to erupt at regular intervals.
This wide-open wonderland was first home to the Wappo people during the late 1700s. Following Mexican independence, the many missions of the area were divided up and much of the Napa Valley was partitioned into large ranchos. Anglo settlers arrived in the 1840s and began purchasing large amounts of land shortly after. In current times, Calistoga is one of the top destinations for visitors hoping to take in the quintessential environment of Northern California’s famous wine country.

Local Lifestyle
Widely known for its natural beauty and scenic views, life in Calistoga is leisurely and beautiful. Mud baths and hot springs are special attractions here, not found anywhere else in Napa Valley. Often-linked to these hot springs is the
Old Faithful of California. The site was first discovered by a farmer who decided to drill into an old, “dead” geyser in search of water. More modern pampering can be found at one of the several high-end resorts or eateries, all with their own modern approach to old-fashioned dishes and luxuries.
Dining, Entertainment, & Shopping
Of course, Calistoga is perfectly situated in the midst of the Northern California wine country. However, there is more than wine to be experienced here. Luxury resorts, social clubs, and light California cuisine are abundant in picture-perfect Northern California.
Solage, a part of the Auberge Resorts Collection, is a vibrant retreat for locals and visitors alike to detox, relax, and repeat. This resort offers local wine tastings, bicycle rides along scenic California roadsides, seasonal events, and custom spa treatments. Picobar, the on-site eatery, offers a contemporary spin on modern Mexican cuisine with delectable bites like whipped avocado, a variety of savory tacos, and sips crafted with housemade syrups and infusions.
Just around the corner, Sam’s Social Club is the place in town to meet and catch up over creative and seasonal food in a bright, communal atmosphere. Their brunch is popular among locals with favorites including eggs Benedict, an elevated avocado toast, and the classic “egg in a hole.”
The sushi hotspot of the Napa Valley can be found at Sushi Mambo. Known for their traditional, innovative, and country-style sushi, they have been serving up fresh Japanese fare since 1997. Priding themselves on quality, healthy portions, and an ample drink menu, some of their best-selling plates include the bento box, high roller roll, and diablo roll.
Things To Do
With its perfect location between the many mountains of Northern California, the Oat Hill Mine Trail is one of the most popular in the region. This heavily-hiked trail is 14 miles long and heads straight up and down Mount St. Helena. Those who reach the top are handsomely rewarded with panoramic views of the valley and surrounding mountains. For more leisurely activities, the many local vineyards and tasting rooms aren’t to be missed. There are dozens of options located throughout town and across the region.
